Celebrating French National Day at Victorious Kidss Educares

French National Day is commonly known as the ‘Bastille Day’ in English. It is celebrated on the 14 of July every year. In France it is called as ‘La fête nationale’. This day also signifies the French Revolution. Our school being true to its ideology encourages and promotes celebration of all cultures. Hence, in this spirit of being ‘International Minded’, the French language teachers and students of Victorious Kidss Educares together organized an event to mark this date.

Our Chief Guest for the program was Ms. Nandita Wagle, a versatile professional of the French language. She is a visiting faculty at Pune University for literary translation and subtitles, translator, interpreter and a professor herself. She is on the Managing Committee of ‘Alliance française de Pune’.

The program commenced with a presentation on France, the French Revolution, gastronomy and some fun facts about France. This was followed by some student performances. Our MYP 1 students performed a song, ‘Le petit prince’, a song related to the days of the week. The MYP 2 students performed a dance on ‘La jument de Michao’ a song composed by a French artist, Nolwenn Leroy. The MYP 3 students presented a poem in French related to the French National Day. The MYP 4 enacted a skit in French on Christmas and how it is celebrated in France.

The Chief Guest enlightened our students with her encouraging words. She made them aware as to how French is much more than just a language. Our beloved President Sir Robbin Ghosh spoke about the importance of languages and guided the students and teachers to pursue languages. Success comes from purity, perseverance and patience. Learning anything becomes truly good when you dream on it. Have faith in yourself and you will win, provided you work with truth and perseverance, the Sun shall surely rise in your horizon.
