Why is it Amazing to be an Underdog? ~ By Arjun Raj

Our champion, Arjun Raj from PYP 5D, has very thoughtfully penned down a blog article. Let us read and find out why he thinks it’s amazing to be an underdog?

“Underdogs rejoice – why is it amazing to be an underdog? So first let me tell you what an underdog is. An underdog is when people expect you to lose, you can say it’s underestimating your capability. So, let me give you 3 reasons why it’s amazing to be an underdog. People expect you to lose but you tell them that “I will not give up”. The crowd sees that the opponent is stronger than you. So, keep them thinking that way. Let them keep cheering for your opponent, after a while they see the real you. Then you tell them “Surprised!! I am better than you think I am”. Read More

Collaborative Planning with Parents

Where there is teamwork and collaboration,
Wonderful things can be achieved.

A new initiative by the Primary Years Programme and Early Years Programme was undertaken where we invited parents to participate in the unit planning process in order to build parent agency and strengthen the learning community. Parents joined us and gave us their ideas regarding what learning engagements we can take with the students. They also came up with suggestions about field trips and volunteered to search for relevant guest lecturers regarding the next topic.

Content-Based Education vs Conceptual Learning

By Educating in a better way, IB Education, VKE Philosophy No Comments

What do you want for your child?
A Content-Based Education or Conceptual Learning?

“Education is the manifestation of perfection already exists in men” that is what Swami Vivekananda is referring to all of us as the search begin, for the teachers and management of schools to discover, what are those characteristics of ‘perfection’? Swamiji expected us to search and establish, implant the mindfulness firmly in the consciousness, attentiveness in the heart of teachers to guide our future generation.
Which learning or education should be taken up for your child to prepare them for the future? Should it be a content-based education which fulfils our merit or should it be the conceptual learning like the IB curriculum offers us that imparts a real understanding?  What is Education and how one shall acquire this in the competitive world like today; where everyone is searching for the real solution as how to be the race to become better and the best. But in the chase of life and asking for a lot from it, somewhere we are completely missing out the real values of education and learning to develop our individual perception of acquiring knowledge. Creating Learning Experiences

“Education, education, education ~
Educate and raise the masses, thus alone a Nation is possible”
-Swami Vivekananda

Creating Learning Experiences 1Victorious Kidss Educares (VKE), an IB World School, believes that ‘discovering the ‘Infinite Power’, hidden within every child, is schooling, is parenting’. In this journey, however, the child needs help from Parents, grandparents, teachers and fellow travellers destined to assist and travel with the child; till the mission of their life is fulfilled. That limitless potentials of human children are getting lost, for lack of data inputs, information, educational standards, practices and knowledge, of what to do, staying hidden from the parents. ‘Being gifted, ‘says Dr. Neil Harvey (Dean of Institute for Developing the Human Potential, PA, USA’), is primarily a product of the environment and by that current definition, the level of intelligence can easily be reached by nearly every child.” Read More

Educating the Character ~ Part 2

At Victorious Kidss Educares, a learning environment is created for the child where; – the kids are encouraged to be ‘Inquirers’ ~ questioning society’s long-lived traditions and guidelines instead of obliviously joining the ‘Human Herd’. In Swami Vivekananda’s words, “If you do not allow one to become a lion, one will become a fox”?

– The process of the academics is aimed at making them Knowledgeable, develop an attitudse to learning (ATL) ~ a love for learning skill ~ about the real-life concepts and critically think of problems and analyze them instead of being a static receiver of undirected or directed bits of ‘data ~ information’.
– they confidently Communicate and accept information with an Open-minded attitude and make principled and unbiased decisions with integrity, fairness, and respect towards every human culture. Read More

Educating the Character ~ Part 1

Since the dawn of civilization in human life, the primary goal of imparting knowledge was to guide the new generations towards the betterment of society and educate them with the necessary qualities required to achieve that goal. They learned through Smaranam (Listening), Mananam (Reflection), Nidhidhyasanam (Meditation). Listening itself was through being near the Guru (Teacher) and was the beginning of Upanishad. There are many Upanishads ~ more than 100, some say or claim it to be a number close to 108. About 1500 years ago, Shankaracharya, chose to comment upon 12 of them and today those twelve Upanishads are studied by those, who wish to sincerely learn about ‘Vedanta’ ~ The end of all knowledge. At Victorious Kidss Educares, we couple these principles and as was advised by Swami Vivekananda ~ towards education for the children of 21 Century ~ to couple Western Education of IB coupled with Vedanta. The stress and importance is towards, first building a good loyal, committed, truthful character ~ who has developed the will power, concentration ~ to learn and be able to apply in the real world?
