Collaborative Planning with Parents

Where there is teamwork and collaboration,
Wonderful things can be achieved.

A new initiative by the Primary Years Programme and Early Years Programme was undertaken where we invited parents to participate in the unit planning process in order to build parent agency and strengthen the learning community. Parents joined us and gave us their ideas regarding what learning engagements we can take with the students. They also came up with suggestions about field trips and volunteered to search for relevant guest lecturers regarding the next topic.

The aim was to bring our learning community closer and make it stronger. The session started with a small presentation by the Head and Coordinators of EYP and PYP. Then, the respective grade teachers sat down with the parents and had a proper collaborative meeting. Parents actively participated and came up with some wonderful ideas for the upcoming unit. The teachers will be incorporating these ideas while they prepare the planner for the next unit.
