Parent’s Reflection on Teachers’ Day
“Happy Teachers’ Day. On this special day we would like to thank the school and teachers for all the guidance and mentorship provided to our children. We are blessed that our children Aafiya and Rahin Somani have had the good fortune of studying at VKE. The school has been a home away from home and guided them at every step of their academic journey. The emphasis on Vedanta principles along with world class IB education have moulded our children to be international minded students with Indian values.Aafiya excelled at MYP 5 exams (2017) scoring a 50/56 and is currently studying at University of Toronto. She is pursuing a double major in Biology and Psychology. Rahin is currently studying in DP2 at VKE. He too excelled in his MYP 5 exams (2020) scoring a 52/56. Recently he attended an international virtual camp CONNECT organized by the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board and Global Encounters from 2-8th Aug 2021. Climate Change and Environmental Action was the thematic camp he was selected for. This gave him an opportunity to explore new cultures, learn new skills and engage in conversations about current global issues with participants from 12 countries.
Being a part of the Climate Change & Environmental Action camp, he worked with artists, entrepreneurs, and experts to explore and design innovative eco-friendly solutions to the problems faced by humanity across the world. While participating in the “Designing Change through User Experience ” workshop, he explored the importance of sustainable design and how real-life challenges can be solved through design thinking. By demonstrating his technical skills, he developed a prototype for an eco-friendly ride-sharing app.
Not just our children but VKE has even helped me as a parent to conduct guest lectures at the school when I was pursuing my Diploma in English Language Teaching and P. G. Diploma in Pre Primary Teachers Training. We are eternally grateful to VKE and can’t thank the school and its teachers enough. A big shout out to Jaya Ma’am and Vishwajeet Sir who assisted us at every step. I sometimes feel we must have done some good karma to have got such a good IB school for our kids.
