INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2016

Yoga is a six thousand (6,000) year old mental, physical and spiritual practice which has its roots in ancient India. Yoga is famous today world wide, because it removes all suffering, all sicknesses even before it happens. These practices are helpful so as to get connected with the tremendous hidden power from within. This is an intense practice for the overall well-being of every individual. The Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has initiated in launching a particular date of practicing Yoga all across the world in his address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 21st June, being the longest day of the year in most of the parts of the world, was decided as Yoga day. The first International day of Yoga was celebrated on the 21st of June 2015 and the world supported this idea of International Day of Yoga.

This year, the main event was held in Chandigarh, India in the presence of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and all sections of the Society, came together in this endeavour. More than 170 countries including USA, China, Canada, etc. celebrated this day by organizing activities like yoga training campus and yoga competitions to enhance the awareness about yoga benefits among the masses all over the world.

We, at Victorious Kidss Educares, being an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, couple the latest of Western Science along with the Vedantic philosophy, regulate meditation and yoga on a regular basis with our students. The celebration of ‘World Yoga Day’ is thus significant to us, as it is inclined to our teachings. We celebrated the Yoga day in the morning with all our teachers and staff members. A one hour session was led by the Physical Education (P.E.) team and diligently followed by others. Various siting and standing asanas were performed. By the end of the session, everyone felt at peace and were energetically charged to begin their day at work. This inspired them to practice yoga more often amidst their busy schedules.
