Virtual Learning for DP Students

In the midst of the coronavirus-prompted state-wide school shutdown that has brought e- learning to the forefront, the V.K.E IBDP educators are on remote learning and doing their best to keep it creative, rigorous, interesting and maintaining the IB philosophy to care for the holistic approach of the students. A closure was sudden and offered no time to plan , however teachers are planning in collaboration with faculty members ,coordinator and head of the programme at the beginning of online lessons and at the end of sessions. The pedagogy leaders are arranging conference calls with quality team and HOD’s for planning and reflecting on sessions. This helps in smooth functioning of the e-classes.

Teachers are taking sessions on Zoom classes, Google classroom, Webinar and Managebac .They are also Including virtual meetings, live chats or video tutorials to maintain a human connection. Homerooms are assuring that the students should get break learning into smaller chunks and they should be clear about expectations for online participation. Teachers are providing immediate feedback through online knowledge checks, comments on collaborative documents and chat to keep students motivated and moving forward. To keep parents in loop homerooms are sending the whole day’s report along with next day’s schedule. Our DP student Gayatri Sahaay reflects ~ “We had a great class and have also been assigned some home-work on ManageBac along with notes. The online class was very productive, maybe even more productive than regular classes because no cross-talk amongst students is possible. I am sure the future classes will also be the same.”
