What is the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and how the concept evolved?
IBO is a non-profit educational organization, established in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The IBO offers 3 programs of international education:
- Primary Years Program (PYP)- Grade I to Grade V
- Middle Years Program (MYP)- Grade VI to Grade X
- Diploma Program (DP)- Grade XI & XII
These programs aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who would help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Thus the IB system of education with PYP, MYP and DP strives to develop an internationally minded person. The students ask WHY they should know something and HOW it connects to other subjects and the real world.
